When I heard this bands first LP in 2007, I wasn’t totally sold on it. Dan Boeckner’s full time gig at the time was as co-leader of Wolf Parade, and this band seemed like little more than a time filler between Wolf Parade albums. However, Dan and his wife Alexei have really changed my mind with their new record Face Control. I’m actually preferring this album to the last Wolf Parade record that came out. These guys really seem like they’re having fun this time around and it’s really refreshing to see a husband/wife combo that don’t use it as a gimmick to sell records.

I recently found out this band will be playing Chyro Arts Venue in Scottsdale on June 12th. There’s no word on openers or anything yet, but this band is so great I could care less. They’re streaming this entire album on their Myspace page currently.

As an added bonus, here’s the music video for the song “I’m Confused”. It’s just about the best music video I’ve seen in ages. It features zombies, gore, love, nudity, bikes, and one killer house party!
