03.26.09last minute showWhite Mice from Providence, RI are playing a free house show tonight. They will be joined by local bands Tightholes and Pigeon Religion. I've been listening to the tracks Pigeon Religion posted up on their Myspace a lot lately. The Tribe is located at 2238 N. 24th St. and the show will get going at 8.

03.26.09department of eaglesI rarely classify music videos as works of art, but this is definitely one of them. Department of Eagles hired Patrick Daughters to direct their new music video, and boy did it pay off. Word is that Patrick is also at work on the new Grizzly Bear video currently, and if it's even half as good as this one I'm sure I'll be posting it up as soon as I can. This video is for the track "No One Does It Like You" off their album In Ear Park.

The benefit is happening Saturday night at Conspire. Donations of any amount will be accepted. Come out and help support independent Phoenix media.

03.26.09grampall jookaboxOne of life's greatest pleasures is going to a show and seeing a band you've never heard of that blows you away. I went to the Trunkspace last week to see Dark Meat and Mi Ami and got the pleasure of seeing Grampall Jookabox as well. This is a two piece band that sometimes sees both members playing drums. At other times you'll see one playing guitar and using all sorts of loop pedals. And sometimes, you'll see one playing drums while the other runs around like a madman. This band is awesome! In a time when it seems like there are few rugged individuals left in the world, let's take a little time out of our day to honor a man whose death is almost one year passed. Trimuvir is always on point with their graphics, but I'm really loving this one. This is called the "Epic tee" and pays tribute to the man by recreating the original poster art from Ben Hur. 03.26.09where the wild things areI've been drooling in anticipation about this movie since I first heard of it. The book is a classic, one of the most loved books of all time. I had my beliefs that Spike Jonze would put an interesting and artistic twist on the story, and looking at the trailer seems to confirm that. Here it is.
