08.25.09mp3: davila 666- “dimelo ya”You've absolutely got to come out to the show tomorrow night at The Trunkspace and see Davila 666. These guys are often referred to as the Puerto Rican Black Lips. I'd say that's pretty much right on. These guys even sing in Spanish. It's totally awesome and something you just don't want to miss in such an intimate environment. If you come out tomorrow night, say hi, as I'll be there taking photos and getting drinks at Bikini between bands. Come out early as there's some great local bands playing. 08.25.09mp3: das pop- “never get enough” (demo version)Das Pop is preparing to release their long awaited third album later this year. To get things rolling, the band is releasing the first single in mid October on two limited edition 7" records. "Never Get Enough" has a huge Jackson 5 influence running throughout and is really a brilliant, sunny piece of pop. 08.25.09dizzee rascal announces new lpYou remember that video we posted of Dizzee Rascal's latest single "Bonkers" back in April? Well it's been nearly four months since then and we're still waiting for the new album! But now Tongue N' Cheek finally has a release date, in the UK anyways. The album will be released on September 21st on his own label. The tracklist and artwork falls in line with what I was thinking when I heard the first track. I like every track I hear more than the previous one and I can't wait to get my hands on their album on September 3rd. "My Step" is one of the tracks that will be on Machine Dreams, and it's a repeat listen all the way. This track takes great inspiration from the early days of electro while mixing in some of the new disco sounds that are starting to take hold of more discerning dancefloors. 08.24.09mp3: anti-pop consortium- “volcano” (four tet remix)Anti-Pop Consortium has always hovered around the outer, more weird, edges of the hip hop universe. So, it's like second nature that they got Four Tet to remix the track "Volcano" from their upcoming album Fluorescent Black. The Volcano single is getting released on September 22nd with this head banger from Kieran included. Have you ever dreamed of partying on a spaceship? 08.24.09breaking news: dj am live at tempe marketplaceI just got the news that one of the biggest DJs in the game will be coming to do a set at Tempe Marketplace on September 24th. This show is all ages! Opening acts confirmed thus far are Benjamin Cutswell and Tricky-T. We'll keep you updated with any more information that we get. 08.24.09mp3: times new viking- “move to california”Times New Viking is set to deliver their fourth full length slab of lo-fi goodness on September 22nd. But before Born Again Revisited comes out, the band is releasing a 7" with two songs from the album and two previously released songs. "Move To California" is the title track for the 7" and will also see release on the LP. The track has a thick and heady mix of fuzzed-out guitars and drums with blissful vocals gliding above the noise.
