With the simplicity of the music you might think it would have gotten old by now, but instead the band continues to get better with age. The Norway duo's album Declaration Of Dependence is absolutely gorgeous. It's a soundtrack for nights on a beach with lovers and friends and the hazy days that follow them. 10.22.09mp3: midnight juggernauts- “this new technology” + memory tapes remixMidnight Juggernauts is continuing to move far away from the electro scene that they've been lumped into since they first broke. Understandably the band seems to have gotten bored with the sound and the scene and instead decided to focus on the more delectable sounds of psyche and kraut. "This New Technology" is one of the sharpest tracks the band has released to date and gives me great hope for their next album. Could they claim their place as your favorite band? It's Blitz! remains one of my favorite releases this year, though I'm not the biggest fan of the single "Heads Will Roll." The Norwegian producer always delivers the deepest and sexiest disco cuts and this track is no different. In fact, this one ups the ante even more thanks to the buttery smooth vocals of Jeremy Greenspan of Junior Boys. And epic it is! The band is often described as an experimental folk group, which I think is an apt description for this six-piece from Scotland. The band uses electronics, guitars, accordions, autoharps, ukuleles, banjos, and a lot more to deliver one hell of an audible experience. 10.20.09mp3: lcd soundsystem- “bye bye bayou”LCD Soundsystem has a new track for us all finally, and it's one of those 7+ minute disco epics that put them on the map long before Sound of Silver came out. This track is a cover of Suicide vocalist Alan Vega’s 1981 song and features a purposely restrained performance by James Murphy that's restored my faith in the power of electronic music when I've been mostly bored by what I've been hearing lately.
