Have you been completely sucked in by the hype of the debut of Them Crooked Vultures? Or are you completely ignoring the project out of fear that they’re just another overblown supergroup that does everything except actually write good music? After spending some time with their self-titled debut, I was pleasantly surprised at how solid the album is. The thing I like most about this album is that Dave Grohl and Joshua Homme are clearly living their childhood dreams by joining a band with Led Zepplin bassist John Paul Jones. These guys sound like they’re having the biggest blast playing these tracks and the enthusiasm is infectious. There’s a few tracks I could have done without, but overall the album is a winner. The band is on tour throughout Europe currently.
