11.23.09mp3: human tetris- “people”It probably doesn't need to be said, but Human Tetris gets the award for best band name of the year. Seriously, how awesome is that!? What's even better is how fantastic this band sounds. I'm often weary of bands that get compared to Joy Division, as the band is most definitely my all time favorite and few bands come close to capturing the spirit they did. I know you listen to Rumors every night in your headphones so that your roommate doesn't hear it and make fun of you the next day. But honestly, what's everyone so ashamed of? I figure I should update everyone on what will be in the shop soon. As the boundaries between mens and womens clothing begin to fade a bit, it's still pretty surprising that such a mainstream label is releasing some of the pieces included in this collection. He's the greatest male fashion designer to ever live in my humble opinion and one hell of a photographer. Most of his photographic subjects are young Americans and the activities they partake in. He's spent a lot of time recently traveling and shooting images of people at various musical festivals, including some wonderful sets at last year's edition of Coachella. 11.23.09mp3: vampire weekend- “cousins”Vampire Weekend has released the second single for their forthcoming album Contra. I'd say "Cousins" is more immediate than the first single "Horchata." 11.23.09mp3: them crooked vultures- “new fang”Have you been completely sucked in by the hype of the debut of Them Crooked Vultures? Or are you completely ignoring the project out of fear that they're just another overblown supergroup that does everything except actually write good music? After spending some time with their self-titled debut, I was pleasantly surprised at how solid the album is. The band is from Murfreesboro, Tennessee and is currently on tour with The King Khan & BBQ Show.
