It appears that Stones Throw is going to start off 2010 by continuing to be one of the best independent record labels to ever exist. And I’m not just talking about in the “hip hop” world, though I don’t think you could define ST exclusively as a hip hop label anyways. They’ve released an incredibly diverse body of work. In fact the only thing that really ties them all together is the fact that every release is worth hearing. Another thing that ties a lot of these records together is the consistently genius production of Madlib. And he’s back at it once again! He collaborated with LA-based group Strong Arm Steady for the creation of the album In Search of Stoney Jackson. The album is being released on January 26th, but there’s a digital version available now if you just can’t wait. The first single is below and features an appearance from Phonte of Little Brother.
