|A new house venue for Phoenix|

The local music scene has been experiencing a lot of changes over the past couple of months as more and more venues close down or go in a different direction. I usually try to look on the bright side of things, and the past week has given us news that makes it easy to be hopeful for the near future. Earlier this week we heard about the Nile basement reopening as The Underground.

Seeing shows in that basement when I was 14 helped shape my love for music that still exists today, and definitely made living in Mesa a lot more tolerable. The other shining example of the scene being alive and well in town is the continuing expansion of the DIY scene in town. Another house venue is set to open and this one is right in the heart of the Arts District. The first show is next month and will also be used as an event to collect donations to help get the venue off the ground and also brings another great addition to February’s shows.
