Are you a fan of The XX, but wish they had a little more bite sometimes? Well, I know My Gold Mask are probably sick of getting that comparison, but you just may have found the band you were looking for. The band builds their sound on minimalistic instrumentation and the icy vocals of Gretta Rochelle. There’s organs, violins, and omnichords throughout that help the band create the late night vibe that they display so well. “Circle Mass” is from an EP that they just released on January 9th called “A Thousand Voices.” It’s self released, making it even more impressive. Who’s going to swoop in and sign this band. I suppose we’ll find out after SXSW. Get a hold of the EP/digital download ASAP.
