I’ve been listening to the new EP called “Speaks” by Brooklyn trio Body Language on repeat all week. It’s an incredibly solid debut and I think the group has the potential to make some real noise this year with their mix of electronic and acoustic instrumentation. The band takes influences as diverse as soul, Detroit-style techno, and classic disco and mixes them all up with a bit of an indie flair. They’ll make any closed-arm hipster dance and maybe even seek to expand their record collection in the process. The EP has a great mix of uptempo dance cuts and even a few ballads to vary the pace. Regardless of which it is, the group is always convincing and you can feel the love for their work seeping out of every beat. So check out this track and the bonus remixes and make sure you see this band open for Sia at The Marquee on 4/20.
