Did you think that 2010 would be the year that ’60′s-influenced bands were going to start dropping off? Well, The Morning Benders are here to tell you that you’re clearly in the wrong. Not only that, but they’re here to show you that this is the year bands sharing these influences sharpen their skills and make a bigger impact than ever before. The band is releasing their Rough Trade debut, “Big Echo”, on March 9th and the label was awesome enough to leak out two tracks from the album so far. And it only took these two for me to fall in love. “Excuses” is the most romantic and gorgeous song I’ve heard in ages. It actually almost makes me wish I had a girlfriend to make cheesy mixtapes for, because it’s prime material for one. The album was co-produced by Grizzly Bear’s Chris Taylor and will probably be all I talk about for a few months after getting it. The band is playing at The Rhythm Room on March 23rd with former Phoenicians Miniature Tigers. Grab your tickets for this one!
