Warp has already released two of my favorite albums of the year and it seems are on a mission to continue adding to the list. However, the newest entry to the list is quite different from the Flying Lotus and Gonjasufi albums that I’ve loved so much. In fact, this one is a legitimate soul album. That’s right, soul is continuing to make a comeback and I couldn’t be more excited. Jamie Lidell has been taking the world by storm for a few years now, but I think this is the album that will make him a breakout star. The path was paved for his rise in the States due to the surprising and overwhelming success of like-minded artist Mayer Hawthorne. The people have spoken and they want more soul music.

Jamie intends to give to the people on May 18th when his new album “Compass” is released. I have no doubt it will end up getting quite a few plays from me and anyone that gets their hand on it.
