The hype for Neon Indian got a little out of hand last year, and I was definitely guilty of participating in it. Unfortunately this led to me being largely disappointed the two times I saw the band live. Especially when comparing them to the party atmosphere that Alan Palomo’s other project VEGA curates when they play live. Since I’m never one to just give up on a band I previously liked because everyone else now likes them too, and they played a few shitty shows, I’m glad to hear this new track. What makes me even happier is that the production on this track is amazing. It was recorded at Terrible Studios by Chris Taylor from Grizzly Bear. And speaking of VEGA, this song reminds me a lot more of the work that band did than anything found on “Psychic Chasms”.
