04.21.10|Photos: Beach House w/ Bachelorette and The Middle East|Monday night's show was one of my most anticipated shows of the year. I can say I was only more excited about seeing Phoenix play earlier in the year, but Beach House managed to blow away even that stellar performance. 04.16.10|Fang Island to play The Trunk Space in May|Fang Island started off as an art project between some friends for school. The members say they used it as an excuse to cut class and smoke weed while still getting credit for college. Genius, right? Well the band finally decided that their music was good enough to pursue the band full time and left the whole college thing behind. 04.16.10|Fucked Up to play Chasers in May|Fucked Up is a rare band that has managed to completely transcend the scene they came up in while remaining firmly tied to their roots. The hardcore band from Toronto has gained fans from all different scenes, including many people who would normally never give a hardcore band a chance. While scene purists may bitch about that, I think it's awesome that a band is able to have such a diverse audience at their shows. The song they chose just happens to be one of my favorite tracks of last year, "When I'm With You". While I don't want to take away from the accomplishment of the band having their video featured on the network, I do want to take a moment to comment on something else. 04.13.10|Eddy Detroit playing Anti Record Store Day at Eastside Records|Sun City Girls are one of the most important and influential bands to ever come out of Arizona. The experimental band was formed in Phoenix in 1979 and was extremely prolific, with well over 50 releases spanning a wide variety of genres, often all in the same song.
