April 15th might go down as the busiest night of the year in Arizona. There’s already a complete overload of shows and Aziz Ansari coming to town to do some stand-up, but yet another destination to be has been added for the night. That’s right, Steve Aoki will be returning to Arizona once again to lay down another one of his hype-swallowing sets. Now I’m not going to be lazy like a lot of writers that cover music and start talking about how Steve is “the leader of the hipsters” or any such nonsense. However, I will say it’s been impressive to see how he has broken out of the mold people try to fit him in and turned into one of the best party-starter DJs on the planet, playing all over the world.
I will gladly say that the fact that he’s playing at Pussycat Lounge makes me dry heave just a bit, but I understand the reasoning behind it. And though I’m sure the club will be full of the kinds of people that led South Park to call Scottsdale “the most horrible, miserable place on Earth”, I’ll still be sure to have a great time. So, forget about the bottle service, spray-on tans, and $30k millionaires and come dance your ass off. After all, it’s not often that you get to see a world-class DJ that can appeal to all different types of people destroy a club in Scottsdale. We will try to hook a few readers up with free tickets soon.
