I just heard some news last night that blew my mind a bit and made me feel very lucky to be living in Phoenix right now. The legendary Mary Anne Hobbs is coming to Tempe on Thursday, May 13th. If you’re not familiar with Mary, where the hell have you been hiding? She is one of the most famous and influential DJs on the planet and currently broadcasts on BBC Radio 1 in London. She has long been ahead of the game with experimental electronic music and has helped bring genres like dubstep and UK funky to prominence outside of their local scenes. She frequently has the best producers in the world visit her show to drop exclusive live sets. Basically she’s the ultimate tastemaker and it’s going to be one amazing journey when she takes to the decks that night in Tempe.

She’ll be doing her thing at Cherry Lounge on Mill for the weekly party, UK Thursdays. It’s pretty much the place to be to get your fix of dubstep, grime, glitch, and lots of other left field dance music. The sound is going to be loud and booming and there’s plenty of room on the dancefloor so you can get loose while she wrecks the place.
