I doubt I really need to explain who Monotonix are as the band has made quite a name for themselves in a little more than four years of existence. The garage rock band formed in Tel Aviv, Israel in 2005 and proceeded to get banned from every club in the city. Since they couldn’t play locally anymore, they decided to start touring Europe and the US starting in 2006. Since then the band has played over 700 of the most crazy and fucked up gigs you can imagine. That’s right, you don’t just passively view a Monotonix show, you experience it. Whether you want to or not. The band is known for setting their equipment (and sometimes themselves) on fire as well as stealing drinks from their audience to pour all over themselves, and often the audience as well.
In an incredibly awesome turn of events, I just found out the band is touring again and will be visiting Tucson in July. What’s even better is this will be a rare 21+ show at Club Congress. Obviously this means a crowd full of drunk and quite possibly insane attendees to the show. You couldn’t ask for a better situation to experience this band in as they just eat this shit up. If the venue manages to survive getting burned down this night and you manage to escape without alcohol poisoning from all the whiskey getting poured on you, I’ll be more than a little shocked. You’ve been warned and I’m sure you’re going to end up at this show anyways. Because in a world of unrest, don’t we all just want to get drunk, run around in circles, and scream at the top of our lungs?
