Isn’t there some kind of boycott going on in this state? Because you certainly could have fooled me. I’m not saying that to downplay the seriousness of the situation brewing both in the state and nationally right now. I only mean that this Summer and Fall are shaping up to be the most incredible seasons for live music in Phoenix that I’ve ever witnessed. Lets all focus on how lucky we are to get all these amazing bands that ARE coming through town and thank the promoters that are working tirelessly to keep these acts coming here during this trying time. Longest intro ever, right? We’ll leave the politics alone now.

Moving on to the news I got today that put the biggest smile on my face in ages. Ladies and gentleman: The legendary Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings are coming to Phoenix! The woman who is frequently mentioned among the best performers of all time will take the stage at the beautiful Orpheum Theatre in Downtown Phoenix, backed up by the best funk/soul band playing music today. When I say to get your tickets to this one, you better get your fucking tickets! Sharon is known to put on two hour plus sets that leave people in ecstasy and tears, with very sore legs to boot. Another home-run from Stateside! The show is on September 26th and tickets go on sale for $25 this Saturday. You should scoop these ones up fast before they sell out.
