It’s that time again for my favorite Phoenix DIY punk/hardcore fests. Granted, there aren’t a lot of those competing with Sundown Showdown, but I’d find it hard to beat even if there were. The fest took place last year at Yucca Tap Room and this year will be transported to somewhere a little more cramped and grimy. It feels like the choice of venue will only make this year crazier, as more and more people try to fit inside throughout the fest. This year the fest features a lot of great local bands, and a few touring bands, spread out over two nights and one day. That’s right, they actually want you to go to Palo Verde during the day! The night shows are free, though donations are definitely accepted and appreciated. These flyers include the full lineup.
