As we celebrate Dilla Month, I’d like to take a moment to post a new track from a producer that I feel is one of the best following in his footsteps. The influence just drips through on every track Star Slinger does. Now, that doesn’t mean he’s just biting a style and doesn’t stand on his own. On the contrary, he’s actually one of the freshest and most exciting beat-makers in the game right now. I drove down to Tucson to see this cat open for Baths a few weeks back, only to find out he canceled due to VISA issues. I was pretty pissed about this, but I feel like he slightly made up for it by dropping another free EP, called “Bedroom Joints.” I’ve posted the first track from the EP, and you can download the whole thing for free at his Bandcamp page.
