06.17.09cell phone portraitsJim Joe has become quite proficient at using a cell phone to take very artistic photographs. Here's some images from his latest series, Pocket Pictures, in which he took "portraits" of his pocket from his cell phone inside them. The effect is very dreamy and I wish I would have had the idea. 06.16.09ana krasAna Kras is a woman of many talents. She is an illustrator, designer, photographer, and has recently even begun designing furniture. The Serbian born artist has been commissioned to do design work for publications such as Vice and Prestup Magazine and was also commissioned to do illustration work for Kawasaki Footwear. Here's some examples of her illustrations, photography, and her recent step into the realm of furniture design. These are the two pieces of furniture she has designed thus far:

06.15.09alexander binderI was kicking around on The Company of People's web site when I found a photographer from Stuttgart, Germany with an incredibly original style. I'm not exactly positive what process Alexander Binder uses to create photos like this, but the effect is almost otherworldly. Alexander recently published a book of his work by the name of Phosphoros, which you can get your hands on right here. Visit his website to see more of his work.

06.11.09video: we have bandThis is one of the coolest things I've ever seen. This is the video for We Have Band's new single "You Came Out". The video was directed by David Wilson and produced by Blinkink and members of UK advertising firm Wieden + Kennedy. What makes this video especially awesome is that it was created using 4,816 still images and not a single second of actual video footage. This is a labor of love that is a rare treat for the viewer.

06.05.09um first fridayUniversatile Music is a collective that has their hands all over the Phoenix music and arts scene. The collective has a gallery right off of Roosevelt as well called the UM Gallery, and it's the spot to be for First Friday tonight. Come catch some art by two of the Valley's most respected artists, as well as hear some great dj's mix up some beats.

When he's not busy designing clothing for his personal baby, Rockwell Clothing, he has added an impressive number of clients to his resume. Some of his clients include Ed Banger and Stones Throw and now the artist is working with Vans to design his own line of shoes. Here's a few preview shots.
