I want to start off this post by apologizing to my loyal readers for my absence. It has been over a week since I last updated this site and you’ve probably been thinking it was dead for good at this point. Unfortunately for the haters, this blog isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. In fact, my personal and professional life took over to the extreme this past week. I vow to everyone that has stuck around that updates will continue daily from this point forward. One of the things that has kept me from posting here is my growing rage over the recent passage of SB 1070. One particular musician has been very outgoing about his support for the struggle for freedom that all people of Arizona deserve.

That musician is Pink Eyes from the band Fucked Up. While everyone is talking about boycotting Arizona, and rightfully so I might add, he made a statement saying now is the time for musicians to come here and make a positive difference in the atmosphere of our city. The band is doing just that with their show on Thursday night at Chasers. I can’t think of a better band to help us get the collective anger we’ve been feeling out and on the table. There’s also one hell of a lineup of local openers; including Landmine Marathon, Elders, Cagematch, and Chandails. Show of the month, right?

To try to make up for being so lame lately, I’ve got a new Fucked Up song and two tickets to give away for the show. The song is taken from an upcoming split 12″ with the Norwegian noise-pop band Serena-Maneesh. Come out and show this band that we are thankful for their support in these fucked up times. I can think of no better way to show this than coming out and thrashing around with one of the world’s best bands.

Classixx is a duo of talented producers/DJ’s in their early 20′s from LA. And though they may be young, they’ve quickly earned their place at the top of the dance music scene. They’ve managed to tour the world while obsessively recording new remixes and original tracks quicker than you can manage taking out the garbage. I’ve been more than a little MIA around here for the past week. In all honesty, I’m having some issues with the server that this humble site is hosted on and will be moving it to a new provider promptly. I teamed up with my friend Josh over at Select in order to bring you a band that I’ve been listening to constantly over the past few months. Surfer Blood has received an incredible amount of justified hype in anticipation of their debut album, Astro Coast. The LP is scheduled to be released on January 19th and can be pre-ordered here. In anticipation of that release, the band is bringing their live show to venues all across the country. They were recently on tour with Japandroids, but they unfortunately dropped off before the band’s Phoenix show on Monday. However, there are some killer local bands opening up the show and FMF is giving away a pair of tickets to the show as well. One of the most anticipated shows of the past couple of months is coming up on Sunday. It’s been a big year for The Juan Maclean, both as a band and on the solo DJ side. The band dropped the fantastic album “The Future Will Come” earlier this year on DFA Records and has been touring throughout the year worldwide. When the band isn’t touring John has spent a lot of time producing remixes and dropping genre-shifting DJ sets for a legion of rabid fans. Luckily for Phoenix, fauxShow is bringing him back once again. He’ll be touching down at Cheap Thrills next Saturday night and I personally want to see as many people there as possible.
