09.07.09huf fall 2009 lookbookRegular readers of this blog can probably guess that I'm a pretty big fan of San Francisco label HUF, as I've provided plenty of coverage about them in the past. Well, the Fall 2009 lookbook is out and I'm glad to report they've continued to impress me. The lookbook was shot by photographer Ari Marcopoulos and features HUF team riders. The looks here are clean and classy and will be available via their online store shortly.

09.04.09ryan mcginley’s moonmilkThe combination of natural talent and earned skill that Ryan McGinley possesses is just simply not fair to other photographers out there. This guy is seriously on a level above everyone else and he's only continuing to get better. In 2003 Ryan became the youngest artist ever to have a solo show at the Whitney Museum of American Art and has since published books of his work and continued to blow minds the world over. 08.31.09photos: against me at the icehouse- 8/30Here's some photos I caught of Against Me playing at the final night of the Kia Soul Collective. The band delivered a spirited set and news that they had been recording a new album in LA for the past couple of weeks. Should be interesting to hear what these guys have in store for us. The lighting in this place was a little rough on me tonight, so unfortunately I don't have as many shots as last night. Enjoy what's here though and hopefully Phoenix gets more events like the one that happened this weekend coming through often.

08.30.09photos: the kia soul collective – 8/29Yesterday's event at The Icehouse was a great way to spend an early Saturday evening. Miniature Tigers and Dear And The Headlights both played very solid sets and everyone there seemed to enjoy the free event. I also really appreciated the set up for the event. It was well planned out and utilized the space of the venue very well. Here's a bunch of photos from last night before I head off to the final day of the event weekend tonight. 08.26.093sixteen fall/winter 2009 lookbook3sixteen is one of my favorite labels out there and I'm loving the looks they've got for the upcoming fall/winter season. I'm also loving the photography that was done for this lookbook. Black and white always does the trick for me. For this collection, the majority of the goods were constructed in the United States. The shoes were made in Maine, the outerwear in California, and the leather goods in Oregon. Phoenicia Association carries 3sixteen locally, though I don't know how much of this stuff they'll be getting in quite yet.

08.26.09video: silver medallion- “gravity”This blog is all about the advancement of the music and arts scene in Phoenix, so it's great to see them combine to create something special. Local photographer Giulio Sciorio directed and filmed this music video in HD using a Canon 5D MKII. Giulio is also a part of local photography cooperative Studio 8 and has made Phoenix proud with this one. Silver Medallion's track "Gravity" is off their recently released album Last of the Popstars and recently started receiving airplay on Power 98.3, so give it up to these guys for doing their own thing free of any label ...

08.17.09site recommendation: tokyocamerastyle.comIn my constant quest for the best sites online, I often find sites that I feel are worthy of passing along to others. Tokyo Camera Style is definitely one of these sites. The site is highly inspired by The Sartorialist, though it features photos of people and their film cameras, instead of people in incredible outfits. Combining my love for unique cameras and Tokyo in one place is a deadly combination, and this is a blog I'll be checking on the daily from now on.

08.15.09photos: nadastrom at fuse fridays- 8/14Fuse Fridays got pretty wild last night. Unfortunately it wasn't just on the dance floor, as everyone had to abandon the roof for awhile due to someone getting maced down below. I don't know the full details, but it was quite the site to see. There's a photo in this set taken from above of one of the guys that got maced. Luckily Nadastrom and all the party-goers decided to keep things going after the brief issue and another successful Friday night is in the books. 08.13.09todd selby nike 6.0 shootTodd Selby is one of my favorite photographers out there and his website The Selby is a constant inspiration for my own photographic work. I was pretty excited to find out that he teamed up with Nike 6.0 to shoot their latest campaign that features Nike 6.0 riders photographer in their hometowns.

08.10.09photos: adult swim- 8/9Last night saw LA transplant Dirty Dave return home to play alongside Lady Miss Kier of Deee-Lite fame, along with a whole bunch of local djs. The event also featured stilt walkers, snakes, body painting, and a whole bunch of people in the pool. I caught some photos at the Wyndham, as well as at the afterparty at Sidebar. The summer season is steadily inching towards a close, so make sure you get out and take advantage of these pool parties before they're over.
