11.18.09show announcement: rogue wave at club congressHuge show announcement here! Rogue Wave is going to be playing at Club Congress in Tucson on April 24th. The band will be touring in support of their follow-up to 2007's stellar album, "Asleep At Heaven's Gate." Their new album "Permalight" is set to be released on March 2nd and was recorded with producer extraordinaire Dennis Herring . There's not a peer about openers or any details beyond the date of the show, but needless to say I'm excited. I'll keep you updated on any more information I can get my hands on.

10.01.09show announcement: junior boys at plush in tucsonJunior Boys frontman Jeremy Greenspan apparently loves Halloween as much as the rest of us. Since the band is touring throughout October and early November to support their new single "Bits and Pieces", they decided to celebrate the holiday at each show. Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros are probably my favorite new band that I've discovered this year and I've heard countless stories about their live performances and how they always manage to blow away a crowd of people. Well, now Arizonans won't have to simply believe the hype, because this band of twelve will be performing at Club Congress in Tucson on November 4th. 09.21.09mp3: girls- “lust for life”Tomorrow is a big day for Girls from San Francisco. It marks the release of their debut LP entitled Album. Here's another band that is giving more credence to the theory that 2009 is a lot closer to 1969 than we though. There's some beautiful (and at times psychedelic) guitar pop on this album. And it's pretty exhilarating that music like this is becoming so popular these days. I'm loving the opportunity to see bands of incredible talent perform live often. 09.08.09show announcement: neon indian coming to club congressI've spilled a lot of digital ink about Neon Indian and I got really excited when I saw they were listed on the Fun Fun Fun Fest lineup. 09.02.09show accouncement: peter bjorn and john at the rialtoPeter Bjorn and John spent the whole summer opening for the Depeche Mode tour, including making a stop in Phoenix. Now the band is hitting the road again, this time on a headlining jaunt with fellow Swedes El Perro Del Mar. There's no Phoenix show this time unfortunately, but the band will be playing at one of the finest venues in the state. Catch them on November 17th at The Rialto in Tucson. Tickets are on sale now for $21.

07.28.09show announcement: built to spill at the dry river collective in tucsonIn a shocking bit of news, Built To Spill will be playing at Dry River collective on October 28th. The collective is a center in Tucson for radical literature, movie screenings, zines, workshops and occasionally live music and djs. However, having a band of this caliber play the space is something wholly new. The show is going to be held in the courtyard out back of the space. Tickets are going to be a sliding-scale $15 to $20 suggested donation, which is a steal to see this band. Come out and support this and hope the venue can repeat it ...

06.26.09show announcement: the pains of being pure at heart!Alright guys, got some big news from Stateside this morning. A band we've covered here frequently, and my favorite discovery of 2009, is coming to Club Congress in Tucson on September 22nd. No word on who will open for The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, but it honestly doesn't matter to me. Here's another show that's definitely worth the drive down to our sister to the south.
