04.06.09phoenix on snlLast week I talked about Phoenix performing on an upcoming episode of SNL. Well, it went down this past Saturday night and the video proof is here. The band performed two songs and played over the closing credits of the show as well. The first track they performed was "Lisztomania" and the video clip is up above. The second song that the band performed was "1901" and is below.

For the first performance he went with the song "Dreamer" from the album LOtUSFLOW3R. Prince is still one of the most incredible guitar players and overall musicians this world has seen.

It all seemed to culminate when they won Pitchfork's Album of the Year award and announced a high profile slot on the 2009 edition of Coachella. The band's album sold nearly 500,000 copies worldwide in a year when album sales were tanking. I'd like to say that I'll stop that sometime soon, but if he keeps booking such solid musical acts I doubt I will. This is the performance I previously wrote about looking forward to. 03.18.09public enemy on fallonPublic Enemy performed on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night. Since Fallon has the Roots as his permanent backing band for the show, they jumped in and backed up Public Enemy as well. This is one of the better performances I've seen on a TV show. The energy a band displays at a venue rarely carries over to a performance in front of a live studio audience, but this one nails it!
