Anyone familiar with Austin, Texas knows that music is the number one export from the city. You also probably know that Spoon is likely their biggest and best known gift to the world at large. I’m in love with this band in ways I can’t even describe. Seeing this band play live has felt like a religious experience to me each time I’ve been lucky enough to catch them. Well, here’s where things get a little sticky for me and probably for a few of you as well. If you read the post below, you can tell I’m obviously a bit giddy about Ted Leo playing in Phoenix on October 4th. Well, that same night down South in Tucson, Spoon will be taking the stage at The Rialto, which is definitely my favorite venue to see a show in this state. Either way, you really can’t lose, unless you miss both!

The Bat For Lashes album Two Suns has been one of the unexpected success stories of 2009. The album is dark, overwhelming, gripping, and absolutely beautiful. Natasha Khan is an artist with a unique vision that has captured the imagination of listeners the world over. If it wasn’t for that Phoenix album, “Daniel” would probably have gone down as my most listened to song of the year. This is an album to listen to in your headphones while you lay in bed with your eyes closed, to drive across country to in the rain, to dance to when you think no one is watching, to make love to, and hopefully one that will help you remember this year in the future. It’s a big task remixing one of her tracks, but luckily Skream always rises to the occasion. For this particular remix he chose to go the best route possible. He left the entire original track in place while adding his signature dubstep beats underneath.
