  |Local Natives kick off their US tour in Tucson| Music, News, Shows, Tucson | (0)

  Soaring harmonies and tribal beats are what Local Natives hinges its sound on. This isn't the first time we've heard those tricks combined, in fact it's very much in fashion these days. Amazingly, this band sounds like they're completely unaware of that fact. The band takes post-punk, Afro-beat, and a big Zombies influence and wraps it all up into a sound that has a lot of people impressed.   I've been listening to the new EP called "Speaks" by Brooklyn trio Body Language on repeat all week. It's an incredibly solid debut and I think the group has the potential to make some real noise this year with their mix of electronic and acoustic instrumentation. The band takes influences as diverse as soul, Detroit-style techno, and classic disco and mixes them all up with a bit of an indie flair.
