03.30.10|Aziz Ansari is coming to Gammage|Self-described "comedic heartthrob" Aziz Ansari is making a rare appearance in the Valley on April 15th. This guy has been one of my favorite comedians since I first saw him on the sorely missed series Human Giant. You're probably seen him in films like Funny People or the new show he's in called Parks and Recreation. If you're really lucky, you've also seen him do standup on his recently released DVD/CD "Intimate Moments For A Sensual Evening". 04.23.09free okkervil river show fridayOkkervil River has been the darling of the indie rock world for a hot minute now, so it's pretty awesome that they're playing a free show at ASU on Friday. The band is following up their Coachella appearance last weekend with a show at McAllister Pavillion at 7pm on Friday. Local favorites Underwater Getdown will open this party up. 02.20.09light rail expansionSince Phoenix is getting $5.5 billion in Obama's latest stimulus package, light rail expansion is about to move full steam ahead. The line will be expanding 3.5 miles north and will be able to bring thousands of additional workers into the city's core for work. I'm just hoping we use some of that money to save our struggling school system. The downtown ASU campus is going to be a large part of the future of Phoenix.
