10.28.10|Cityscape To Hold Gallery Show And Free Concert For First Friday|I know there's a lot of people with varying opinions on the Cityscape project, and I haven't quite decided how I feel about it all yet. 04.13.10|Eddy Detroit playing Anti Record Store Day at Eastside Records|Sun City Girls are one of the most important and influential bands to ever come out of Arizona. The experimental band was formed in Phoenix in 1979 and was extremely prolific, with well over 50 releases spanning a wide variety of genres, often all in the same song. While they are often forgotten due to the mainstream success that other bands in town during the same time period experienced, they've gone on to be legends in the experimental music scene. 07.27.09running from bears at the lost leaf tonightI wasn't able to track down any sort of website for Running From Bears, the new jazz band that's holding down Monday nights at The Lost Leaf, but the band does feature members of local band Moseyhorse. I went to see these guys play last Monday night and was highly impressed. The packed Monday night crowd seemed to be as well. 06.24.09hooves and snow songs at lost leafIn just under an hour a party is going to go down at Lost Leaf on 5th St & Roosevelt. The bar is one of my favorite in town with it's speakeasy feel and live entertainment provided nearly nightly and never with a cover charge. Tonight's show features local bands Hooves and Snow Songs, along with Harris Trucks from NYC. The show should get going around 9 with Hooves taking the state at midnight. See you there!

04.23.09free okkervil river show fridayOkkervil River has been the darling of the indie rock world for a hot minute now, so it's pretty awesome that they're playing a free show at ASU on Friday. The band is following up their Coachella appearance last weekend with a show at McAllister Pavillion at 7pm on Friday. Local favorites Underwater Getdown will open this party up.
