2010 is shaping up to be a wonderful year in music already. One of the releases I’m most anticipating is the new album from Hot Chip. The album is brilliantly titled One Life Stand and will be released via Astralwerks on February 9th. Just in time to pick it up for your sweetheart on Valentine’s Day! The first single is out now and it goes by the name of “Take It In.” The track starts off surprisingly dark, with a throbbing industrial beat. It isn’t long before the electronic pop we expect from these guys takes over and leads this one in new directions. It ends up being a bit of a ballad. I’m always impressed by the creativity of these guys. They know no boundaries and are constantly pushing themselves. The band will be playing a string of dates with The xx in April.

The wonder kids of Hot Chip are set to release another new album just three months after their last EP was released. This time it’s a mix for the well respected Bugged Out mix series. The mix includes tracks by John Tejada, Mark Romboy, Dominik Eulberg, Gabriel Ananda, Fleetwood Mac, Luther Vandross, and the Doobie Brothers among others. There is also a brand new Hot Chip track on the mix called “Take It In”. It looks like hearing all these new releases is all the Hot Chip love we’re going to get for awhile, as the band has no live dates scheduled until 2010. The mix comes out in April via New State Records.

Joy Division is sacred ground for me and a lot of other people out there, so I was a little hesitant when I first heard about this cover. I’ve enjoyed Hot Chip since I first heard them, but wasn’t so sure how this would translate over. I’m glad to report that they actually delivered with a very solid take on the song. Check it out below.
