07.09.09show announcement: dr. dogDr. Dog has been one of the most well respected and popular bands out there in the new folk scene. The band puts on one hell of a live show as well, and luckily they'll be hitting Tempe on their next tour instead of Tucson. The boys will be at The Clubhouse on October 7th. No word on openers as of yet.

07.06.09deer tick at modified tonightDeer Tick is bringing their patented mix of blues, country, folk, and rock to Phoenix tonight for an appearance at Modified. You can't ask for a much better way to start the week than a great show and some beer at Lost Leaf between bands. Locals Matthew Reveles and Gospel Claws will be providing support, with doors opening at 7:30.

06.26.09dinosaur jr. on late nightAs we posted on Tuesday, Dinosaur Jr. is coming to town on November 3rd. I'm getting really hyped up about the show, especially after seeing the band play on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon last night. Watch the video for yourself and try to control your anticipation.

06.25.09st. vincent on lettermanI'm going to be honest here, I have a huge crush on Annie Clark right now. She's adorably cute and it doesn't hurt that she records incredible music under the St. Vincent name either. Annie showed up with an accompanying cast of musicians on saxes, oboes, and a plethora of other instruments to play The Letterman Show last night and provided the best performance I've seen on the show this year.

06.23.09show announcement: dinosaur jr.It's a big day for Marquee show announcements today! I just got word that my prayers were answered and Dinosaur Jr. is coming to town! The show will also feature sets from Lou Barlow and The Missingmen. Tickets go on sale this Sunday for $25 from Luckyman. The band is scheduled to play Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on Thursday and recently recorded a Daytrotter session. I'd recommend clicking here and checking that session out now.

06.12.09handsome furs live tonightHandsome Furs is a band featuring Dan Boeckner of Wolf Parade and his wife. The band is making an appearance tonight at Chyro Arts venue in Scottsdale. Showtime is 8pm and tickets are $13. Check out this video for a taste of how fun this band is.

06.11.09sonic youth live on lettermanIn celebration of Tuesday's release of The Eternal, Sonic Youth visited the Letterman Show last night. The band ripped through the album's opening track "Sacred Trickster" and definitely left the studio audience craving more. If anyone can pull some strings and bring this band to Phoenix/Tucson, I will love you for life.
