She is also a highly gifted songwriter who has released numerous records on K Records and also worked with Phil Elvrum of the Microphones in the past. She seems like the kind of performer destined for stardom, but unwilling to embrace it. That's good for us, because we get to see Mirah in intimate venues like Modified, instead of huge concert halls. Enjoy it!

04.08.09nite jewel covers roxy musicNite Jewel were one of my favorite surprises of last year when I saw them open up for Deerhunter at Modified. The band has since hooked up with the Italians Do It Better Records squad and are busying themselves with creating new music. This new music video is for the cover they recorded of the Roxy Music track "Lover". The band is going to be back in Phoenix on June 17th with Telepathe at Modified. Video is via Pitchfork.TV.

Run With The Hunted is having a record release show and that means a collective gathering of some of the best bands playing hardcore/punk music in Phoenix currently. 03.20.09saturday at modifiedReuben's Accomplice has been kicking around the Phoenix music scene for years. I've always wondered why they don't have a larger national following. They're an extremely solid band and seem to have everything needed to break out nationally. They just returned from South By Southwest, so hopefully things are in motion for that to happen in the future. Joining them at this show is another band that has played quite a few shows in Arizona, though they're actually based out of California.
