Lymbyc Systym used to be my favorite local band. That is until the members of the band up and moved to Brooklyn and Austin. When I heard they were leaving town, I thought about all the times I missed out on seeing them play because I assumed they'd be playing local gigs forever. Bibio's album Ambivalence Avenue has been getting a lot of headphone time recently and I found myself wondering why I haven't written about it at all. The British producer has been mostly known for crafting Boards Of Canada-like electronica on Mush Records. However, on his Warp debut he's greatly expanded his sonic range. This album takes you on an incredible journey through sounds as diverse as folk, electronica, indie rock, found sound samples, electro, disco, and some glitchy instrumental hip hop beats.
