06.30.09video: dirty projectorsI fell in love with Bitte Orca the first time I heard it, and have been progressively enjoying it more and more with each spin. However, it wasn't until a friend put it on at a late night BBQ last Sunday that it cemented itself as my favorite album of the summer. The Dirty Projectors have struck the perfect balance between art and pop with this album. Here's the music video for the first single, "Stillness Is The Move."

06.29.09video: kanye west808's and Heartbreak was a highly debated album and still has a lot of detractors. I personally enjoyed the album a lot and still break it out from time to time. I'm not the biggest fan of auto-tune, but I do like the way it was employed with the sparse instrumentation on this album. The track "Streetlights" is one of my favorites on the album. Here's the new video for the track directed by Spanish director Javier Longobardo.

06.26.09video: marina and the diamondsI've got another fantastic music video to share with you today. This one comes to us from Marina And The Diamonds. "I Am The Robot" comes from the EP, The Crown Jewels, that was released on Neon Gold Records last Monday. The video was directed by Dazed & Confused founder and famed photographer Rankin and was cut during a grueling 16 hour shoot. A remix of the track was named NME's #1 Must Hear Track this week. Watch the video and find out what all the fuss is about.

06.26.09video: clipseClipse are preparing to take over the world of rap once again when they release Till The Casket Drops in September. Pusha T and Malice wanted to make sure they came out swinging with the first single for the album, so they enlisted the help of Kanye West and recorded "Kinda Like A Big Deal". 06.26.09video: major lazerMajor Lazer's album Guns Don't Kill People Lazers Do has been the surprise of the year for me. It's not that I don't think Diplo and Switch are incredibly talented producers, I just didn't expect the two would come together and create an album that uses so many different sounds and musical elements. I'm also very impressed with the backstory of the album and the art direction the project has taken. This video for "Hold The Line" combines all the elements that make this album great. 06.25.09video: jenny lewis ft. elvis costelloJenny Lewis and Elvis Costello are two musicians that have managed to enter the pop culture conscious without having to dumb down their creative process to get there. So, it's pretty awesome that the two teamed up to record this track "Carpetbaggers", and equally awesome that they recorded a no-frills video showing how the track came together.

06.24.09video: anni rossiI've been craving the open road more and more as the summer heat progressively takes over Phoenix. This video for Anni Rossi's song "The West Coast" is what I've been picturing in my head when I imagine jumping in my car and taking off. Hopefully you'll be able to hit the road a few times this summer yourself, but this video should help you live vicariously if you can't.

06.22.09video: simian mobile discoSimian Mobile Disco have become one of the bigger names in electronic music over the past few years. And with their recent string of dates with The Chemical Brothers, and the band continuing to pump out tracks like "The Audacity of Huge", I can only see their popularity continuing to grow. The band has recently begun to spread their influence outside of the electronic music scene. The vocals by Chris Keating, of Yeasayer, on this track show that SMD is succeeding there as well.

06.22.09video: clipseClipse enlisted the support of Kanye West for their first single off their upcoming album Til The Casket Drops, which is set to be released in September of this year. Bernard Gourley directed this video for the track "Kinda Like A Big Deal". I think it's a great first single and it's giving me hope that the duo will be able to repeat the success of Hell Hath No Fury.
