The decision was between seeing No Age play at a horrible venue (The Clubhouse) or seeing Mr. Meeble rock an outdoor show at Cityscape. 11.10.09photos: no age at fun fun fun festOne of the highlights of my trip to Austin for Fun Fun Fun Fest was No Age's early evening performance on the Orange stage. The band took the stage slightly after 5:10 and proceeded to rip through an assortment of songs spanning their ever-growing discography. It was one of the first sets of the festival where I really saw the pit open up and started to see people lose themselves in the music. 07.24.09video: no age live at stinkweedsLast Saturday was one of the hottest days of the summer, and it was definitely painful to be crammed inside Stinkweeds with a bunch of other locals to catch No Age's performance. However, I'm glad I did as the band played some favorites off their current releases, and hit us off with a few new songs. 07.17.09free no age show tomorrowStanding out in the Phoenix heat for extended periods of time at 3pm doesn't sound like the best of ideas, but sometimes you have to suffer. Tomorrow at Stinkweeds will be just one of those occasions, as No Age will be dropping by the shop to play a free in store show. If you're brave enough to face the heat, I'd recommend getting there early as the courtyard in front of the store is sure to be packed.

06.19.09mp3: gun outfitDean Spunt is a man after my heart. Not only does he play in one of my favorite bands, No Age, but he also runs one of my new favorite record labels. Post Present Medium has released two of my favorite albums of 2009 thus far, and the Gun Outfit album Dim Light is one of them. The band reminds me of Dinosaur Jr. at their prime. 03.14.09no age remix fucked upNo Age is relentless. They've been touring non stop for the past couple of years, and they've really left their dent on the national music scene in a short amount of time. When they aren't busy knocking kids in indie venues on their ass, they apparently find enough time to remix another workhorse of a band. As I've said in the past, Fucked Up is the definition of punk rock. I can't get enough of these guys. No Age take the track No Epiphany and make it even noisier than it was before. 03.10.09no age at modifiedI've been waiting to see this band ever since the last time I saw them at Modified. They put on a great show that night and I have no doubt they'll do it all over again. They've taken the world by storm since then, and are coming through Phoenix a month before they play Coachella. This should be a great one.
