Cheers to another show coming to my favorite new venue in town! I absolutely love Sail Inn, especially the inside/outside setup that reminds me of all the wonderful venues in Austin, Texas. Unfortunately, I’ve only been able to make it to shows there when it has been incredibly hot so far. That’s all going to change when Seattle power popper Telekinesis, AKA Michael Benjamin Lerner, comes to the venue on February 26th. He’ll be touring in support of his forthcoming album “12 Desperate Straight Lines”, that will be released on February 15th. His touring band also features Cody Votolato of Blood Brothers fame. Check out the first single from the upcoming LP below.

I can’t tell you the last time I was as excited about seeing a band live as I am about seeing The Budos Band tomorrow night. I’ve been looking for an opportunity to see them for years now and never managed to find one. They haven’t even played at one of the countless festivals I’ve attended since I first discovered them. Well, tomorrow night that dream is finally coming true and I only have to drive ten minutes from my house to get there! The thirteen-piece “Afro Soul” band from Staten Island is going to put on what will no doubt be the biggest party of the summer. They’ll be joined by local favorites Black Carl and Hot Birds and the Chili Sauce, along with DJ Seduce on the ones and twos.

The party is happening at The Sail Inn and showtime is listed as 7:30. I wanted to point that out because I know you’re probably planning on showing up late, as we all know shows rarely ever start on time. However, due to the noise curfew for the outside stage, you really want to show up on time if you’re interested in catching the opening acts. Tickets are $14 at the door and make sure to bring your dancing shoes, as you’re not going to be able to stand still.

Since I know a lot of you are going to want to keep the party going long after this show lets out, here’s a nearby dance night that should satisfy all your carnal desires. DJ Epidemic and guests in the mix all night.

Lymbyc Systym used to be my favorite local band. That is until the members of the band up and moved to Brooklyn and Austin. When I heard they were leaving town, I thought about all the times I missed out on seeing them play because I assumed they’d be playing local gigs forever. Now that the band has relocated, it’s a rare treat to see them play in Phoenix. The band recently toured with The Books and just released a new LP called Shutter Release on Mush Records. The album was mixed by John Congleton (Explosions In The Sky, St. Vincent, Modest Mouse, etc.) and thoroughly impressed me upon first listen. Since the show is at Sail Inn, it will be 21+ only. Sorry kiddos!
