05.08.09jenny lewis coming to tempeStateside Presents announced via their website that they are bringing Jenny Lewis back to Arizona this summer. I've been listening to her latest record Acid Tongue a lot lately and this should be a great show to help get us through the summer heat. The show is going down on July 11th at Marquee Theatre and Heartless Bastards are opening. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, May 13th.

05.04.09cardiac party release new epLocal boys Cardiac Party now have their new EP, Teen Challenge, available at Hoodlums Records in Tempe. The band just returned from playing a show in Los Angeles at The Smell to spread their sound outside of Phoenix. You can preview a few of the tracks on their Myspace profile.

04.23.09free okkervil river show fridayOkkervil River has been the darling of the indie rock world for a hot minute now, so it's pretty awesome that they're playing a free show at ASU on Friday. The band is following up their Coachella appearance last weekend with a show at McAllister Pavillion at 7pm on Friday. Local favorites Underwater Getdown will open this party up. 04.20.09dan deacon at the clubhouseLast night's Junior Boys show at the Rhythm Room was one of the best shows I've been to all year. Stateside and Faux Show have teamed up for tonight's show as well. Dan Deacon played Modified last time, but the 17 piece band he's touring with needed a little more breathing space. The Clubhouse it is! Our man Tyler Nevitt will be there taking photos tonight. Dress your best.

04.18.09show at eastside records todayEastside Records hasn't had a show at the shop in more than ten years, but they're having one to celebrate Record Store Day this year. Be there at Noon to enjoy the three local bands playing at the store.

04.17.09black lips at the clubhouseTonight is the night! Black Lips are bringing their fuzzed out garage psyche sound to the Clubhouse in Tempe. Word is the show isn't sold out quite yet, so get over there early if you're looking to get in. New Factory Made Future contributor Tyler Nevitt will be there taking pictures tonight. Maybe you'll see your face here tomorrow.

04.16.09m. ward at the marqueeM. Ward will be playing the Marquee Theatre in Tempe on Sunday evening. I'm still pretty positive this "special guest" is going to be Ms. Zooey Deschanel herself, especially since it's still a secret. Get ready for indie boy drool to be all over the Marquee's floor. The Watson Twins will be a great opener for this show. Here's a video for the second single off M. Ward's latest album Hold Time. The track is called "Rave On" and features Zooey as well.

04.14.09conor oberst & the mystic valley bandIt's that time of the year when Phoenix gets hit with a number of high profile shows as bands make their way to Coachella. Stateside Presents is bringing Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band to the Marquee Theatre tonight. Tickets are $21 at the door and still available. The show starts at 7pm.

03.31.09new black lips videoThe boys in Black Lips have put together this new video. It's very nicely done and reminds me a little of an old, twisted home movie. They'll be coming to town on April 17th at the Clubhouse.

03.30.09isisIt's Monday and that means it's time to start the dull routine of the work week again. Nothing keeps my energy going better than a can of Red Bull and some metal on Mondays. So, here's a new show announcement for you. Isis is coming to town on May 16th to support their new album Wavering Radiant which is being released on May 5th via Ipecac Recordings . The band will be playing the Clubhouse in Tempe this time around. No word on opening acts yet. Here's a video of the band recording the album in the studio.
