The Golden FIlter burst on the scene in the summer of 2008 with their single "Solid Gold," and have never looked back since. The New York (by way of Australia and Ohio) based duo stands out in the increasingly crowded market of groups playing discohouse music thanks in large part to Penelope's perfect vocals. Dummy Records just released their second single "Thunderbird" and the group has shot an artsy video to back it up. The 12" is available here.

The Golden Filter were one of the most hyped bands at this year's SXSW Festival. The NYC based disco-house band played some of the best parties throughout the week, including the V Magazine party. Their stock seems to be quickly rising as they're about to go on a tour opening for the Presets. They're being talked about both for their original tracks and the remixes they've been pumping out for artists such as Peter Bjorn and John, Cut Copy, Little Boots, and Empire of The Sun.
