Hunx and The Punkettes may be the only bubblegum pop girl-group led by a flamboyantly gay man. If not, they're certainly the best. 02.03.10|Abe Vigoda & Lovvers coming to Trunk Space|The pre/post SXSW hysteria is spreading outside of Austin and taking over Phoenix with a stacked couple of weeks of shows in March. The latest announcement came today when Stateside dropped the news that Abe Vigoda would be coming to The Trunk Space along with Lovvers and Tape Deck Mountain on March 12th. Abe Vigoda is the opener for the upcoming Vampire Weekend tour that's coming to the Marquee in April, so this may be the last time you see the band in such an intimate venue. 01.29.10|Video: Surfer Blood – Swim|"Swim" has the biggest guitar sound you're likely to hear in the early part of 2010 and is also the most infectious single you're likely to find. You know... when Phoenix gets flooded with bands on their way to or from SXSW that need a spot to play on their way. And we're more than happy to oblige. This year Select Shows put together a two day mini-fest at the Trunk Space. It's happening March 16th and 17th and features five touring bands and three locals. The band draws for a multitude of 60's pop sources, most notably Brian Wilson and Phil Spector.
