12.01.09select and fmf present surfer bloodI teamed up with my friend Josh over at Select in order to bring you a band that I've been listening to constantly over the past few months. Surfer Blood has received an incredible amount of justified hype in anticipation of their debut album, Astro Coast. The LP is scheduled to be released on January 19th and can be pre-ordered here. 11.11.09photos: crystal antlers at fun fun fun festI unfortunately missed Crystal Antlers playing a free show at the Yucca Tap Room on the 4th as I had a plane to catch to Austin at 7am the next morning. The only reason I could bring myself to do it was knowing that I'd be catching the band's set at Fun Fun Fun Fest early on Saturday afternoon. This style is definitely becoming one of the larger trends in the independent music scene recently, and I couldn't be any happier that it is. 04.03.09trunkspace turns 5The Trunkspace has been providing some of the best music and art shows for the past five years now in Phoenix. It has become an institution that can consistently be counted on to book bands and artists that are doing things outside the norm and hopefully remains a landmark in the Phoenix scene for years to come. There couldn't be a better night than First Friday to celebrate their anniversary, so here's the party! There will be some great art on display and great music as well.

04.01.09quarterly concernThis one is a few weeks off, but I'm pretty excited about it. Cardiac Party is a favorite local band of mine that I haven't gotten to see play in far too long. We recently gave you a few tracks to check out from Pigeon Religion as well, so this will be a great chance to see them play as well. On top of all the local bands, the boys in Wavves will be back in town!
