03.26.09grampall jookaboxOne of life's greatest pleasures is going to a show and seeing a band you've never heard of that blows you away. I went to the Trunkspace last week to see Dark Meat and Mi Ami and got the pleasure of seeing Grampall Jookabox as well. This is a two piece band that sometimes sees both members playing drums. At other times you'll see one playing guitar and using all sorts of loop pedals. And sometimes, you'll see one playing drums while the other runs around like a madman. This band is awesome! 03.25.09past lives at trunkspacePast Lives is a band made up of some ex-members of Blood Brothers. They recently released a killer EP called Strange Symmetry on Suicide Squeeze Records. The band is a whole lot less screamy than the Blood Brothers were and have a lot more funk and rhythm to them. They'll be rolling through the Trunkspace this evening with Providence based experimental/noise outfit White Mice. Along with some really solid local openers, this should be a fun night. Here's a change to see the boys from Brooklyn on their first visit to Phoenix. There's a bunch of other great touring bands on this just getting finished with playing SXSW. Be here tonight!

03.23.09tonight at trunkspaceLast night's show at the Trunkspace was totally awesome. I was a little dissapointed that Dark Meat only had 10 of their 26 members at the show. I was looking forward to seeing how they would fit all 26 members and their gear in the Trunkspace. But all those concerns went away when they started playing their ripping brand of horn filled psyche rock. This show should be just as awesome tonight. Check it out.

03.19.09all leatherJustin Pearson of Some Girls/Locust fame has a new band called All Leather. They're on Dim Mak Records and they're going to be hitting the Trunkspace tonight with some great local bands. You should check these guys out on Myspace and get out to the show tonight.

03.16.09rampage fest day 1So, it's finally here. The next two nights will see some of the best bands from LA and beyond visiting Phoenix. The tickets to this fest are ridiculously cheap and you get to see a bunch of bands on their way to SXSW. How awesome is that!? Don't miss out on Wavves tonight.
