11.16.09mp3: the xx- “shelter” (death to the throne remix)It's really awesome to hear a great remix by a local producer, especially when it's of one of my favorite tracks of recent times. The XX's debut album is still on constant repeat and "Shelter" is one I find myself coming back to most often. The track is one of the most musically sparse on the album, being carried almost completely by the vocals Romy Madley Croft. A band full of boys and girls that all just recently turned twenty created out one of the freshest and original debut albums in years. They take great influence from American r'n'b from the 90's as well as taking influences from electronic music and indie rock.
