This isn't the first time we've heard those tricks combined, in fact it's very much in fashion these days. Amazingly, this band sounds like they're completely unaware of that fact. The band takes post-punk, Afro-beat, and a big Zombies influence and wraps it all up into a sound that has a lot of people impressed. 07.28.09show announcement: built to spill at the dry river collective in tucsonIn a shocking bit of news, Built To Spill will be playing at Dry River collective on October 28th. The collective is a center in Tucson for radical literature, movie screenings, zines, workshops and occasionally live music and djs. However, having a band of this caliber play the space is something wholly new. The show is going to be held in the courtyard out back of the space. 06.26.09show announcement: the pains of being pure at heart!Alright guys, got some big news from Stateside this morning. A band we've covered here frequently, and my favorite discovery of 2009, is coming to Club Congress in Tucson on September 22nd. No word on who will open for The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, but it honestly doesn't matter to me. Here's another show that's definitely worth the drive down to our sister to the south. Check out this video for their anthem "Everything With You".

06.03.09video: grizzly bear (repost)We posted the video for "Two Weeks" last week, but the link was quickly removed. Usually in these situations, the label wasn't ready for the video to be posted and kindly requested the video to be shutdown. Luckily for those of you that didn't see it in time, Pitchfork has provided us with a new link to the video with the guys over at Warp signing off on it this time. Tickets are still available for the bands show with Wilco at Centennial Hall in Tucson on June 18th.
