I’ve heard a lot of people who are quite depressed about not getting tickets to see Yeasayer play Thursday night at The Rhythm Room. While I must say I warned you this would sell out, I do still feel for everyone that missed out on getting tickets. So, I wanted to deliver some good news to those of you who want to see the band and are over the age of 21. I just got word that tickets to the Club Congress show in Tucson are still available. I can promise you this show will sell out before the doors open, so get your tickets now if you want to catch the show. Showtime is at 8pm and Warpaint will be opening. 21+ only!

Great remixes can be hard to find, especially in the era of “bloghouse” with a million “producers” taking every good track that comes out and ruining it by doing nothing more than adding a bunch of distortion and tired drum samples to it. Luckily if you search hard enough you’ll find producers that didn’t just download a torrent of Ableton and start proclaiming themselves as the second coming of the Messiah. Doctor Rosen Rosen is one of those producers that oozes talent out of every pore of his body, all over the tracks he releases.

Take this Yeasayer remix for example. Where most producers would try to pick up the pace of the track for the dance floor, he instead amplifies the underlying beauty in this track and lets the vocals float above the instrumental track and take you on a journey. “Madder Red” is just one of the tracks on the fantastic album “Odd Blood” that Yeasayer released in February. It’s been filling my headphones steadily since I got my hands on the leak and I’m anxiously looking forward to their show at The Rhythm Room in April. If you didn’t get your tickets yet you should probably get to checking Craigslist, because the show is long sold out. As a bonus, enjoy the band’s new totally-80′s video for “O.N.E.”

I’ve been so busy over the past couple of days that I actually missed posting on the one year anniversary of this site. That’s right, I started Factory Made Future on February 28th of 2009. There’s been nearly 1500 posts since then and the amount of readers has grown steadily each month. Thanks a lot to everyone involved in the success of this site; you have my promise that I will continue to grow it in 2010 and beyond. I also come bearing gifts to celebrate a year gone by. Here’s the first single from Javelin’s upcoming album “No Mas”.

You might remember my introduction to the band a few weeks back and how I told you I was very excited about the album’s release on April 20th. Well now that I’ve gotten to hear the first single, I’m even more so. Don’t forget to get tickets to see these guys open for Yeasayer on April 17th at the Rhythm Room. I also included a video of the band partaking in XLR8R’s “Tune In An Afternoon” project where the band was given a day to make a song using only instruments they had on tour with them and some cassettes from a thrift-store.

Javelin brings to mind the globe spanning crate-digging experiments of The Avalanches with a bit of Brooklyn flair. Only instead of twisting thousands of samples into three minute masterpieces, Javelin actually plays all these dusty grooves live. They recreate these sounds using a mix of stings, guitars, drums, and pianos. They also throw drum machines, samplers, turntables, and even the occasional glockenspiel in the mix. They’re getting ready to release their debut album called “No Mas” in April and are visiting Phoenix as the opening act for Yeasayer on April 15th. Their party-inducing live sets should set the stage nicely for what’s sure to be the pre-Coachella show of the year.

I know 2009 isn’t over yet, but since we’re on the way out I’ve been salivating over the plethora of shows that are already confirmed to hit Phoenix early next year. However, today’s announcement has me more excited than any other confirmed show for 2010 so far. Yeasayer confirmed earlier today that they will be stopping by by Phoenix and Tucson on a tour in April, which I can only assume is taking the band to play at this year’s edition of Coachella. The last time I saw this band play locally was in 2008 with MGMT, at the very venue they’ll be playing at this time. The band will be touring behind the release of their new album Odd Blood, which is due to be released February 9th. Thanks to leaks I’ve already gotten a chance to hear it and it’s far and away the best thing the band has ever released. I’ll post more info as it’s released.

Yeasayer’s new signle “Ambling Alp” presents such a dichotomy of styles that it took me more than a few listens to wrap my mind around everything that’s going on. I’m pretty shocked by their ability to make music that is so experimental while remaining the very definition of pop music at the same time. At this point, I would actually be shocked if the band didn’t do something to shock me. So, this new music video shouldn’t be any surprise to me. However, it’s still a bit crazy to see, as this is one of the trippiest music videos I’ve ever seen a band release. Make sure you’re sitting down for this one.

Yeasayer’s Saturday night set was one of the ones I looked forward to most going into weekend of Fun Fun Fun Fest. Luckily I wasn’t let down in the least, as the band breezed through a set of tracks both new and old and had the audience screaming for more by the time they walked off the stage. They also had one of the largest crowds watching from the stage and photo pit, so it was difficult to grab many photos throughout the set. Being more honest, I might have walked to get a beer (or several) during the set and missed a few songs. So, to make up for the fact that I didn’t grab as many photos as I would have liked, here’s the new single and the Memory Tapes remix as well.
